I think i'm a little heavy on my lines i'm just curious on what everyone else uses. I use 12lb main and 10lb mono spider. I tryed some of the floro clear and had some issues with knot sliding and kinking. I have and use spinner reels. I'm thinking of going to 10lb and 8lb.

You'll get a lot of differing opinons on this, but either combo will work. Of course the lighter you go, the more you're going to have to work to get those puppies to shore. Personally, I'd stick with your 12:10 combo. Good luck to you.

This kind of question comes up a few times a year. 12 main and 10 leader is pretty common so and will work ok for most situatiuons. You can search the forum for more info. Here is an older link to the same question: http://www.idaho-fishing.com/forum/yaf_postst8799_Just-curious-what--test-line-to-use-for-Steely.aspxFor salmon I usually run 15lb main and 12 to 15lb leader, with Maxima being my brand of choice.

It sounds like maybe i'm not to heavy with the water being so low and clear at the sky Reiter and seeing so many fish where my jigs and yarn and corkies are going right over them practicly bouncing off there foreheads and they aren't even thinking about biteing it. I figured maybe its my line. Before the river got so low I was catching them and getting hits on the regular. The last three times I have gone been real slow I got 2 hits and foul hooked one little guy that fought like a champ about 4lbs I never took him out of water held him right side up let him catch his breath and he was on his way

Up at Reiter I've been going with 10# main and 8# floro leader for the winter i will switch back to 12 and 10.
