The Owyhee River from the Owyhee Dam to the Snake River in northeastern Oregon hold some of the best Brown Trout fishing in the Pacific Northwest. The water flowing out of the dam is cold and clear year around making for a perfect home for the German Brown Trout. It is one of the favorite spots for many fly fisherman in the Boise region. Although it is a very beautiful area, it does have some startling surprises once in awhile. The river flows through a deep canyon that the military sometime uses for flight training. You may be suddenly surprised to have a F-18 screaming over your head with afterburners on. Seems it is good practice for low level terrain flying. The good news is that the trout have become accustomed to it.
Special thanks to Paul Reece for contributing his music.
